2006 VW Jetta TDI Headliner problems

The headliner is coming down shrinking and sagging on my 2006 VW Jetta

This is not just a problem with my car, but everyone I know with a VW built around 2006 has had the same headliner issues.

This car was purchased new from Schumacher North Palm 3720 North Lake Boulevard, Lake Park FL, 33403 (866) 578-5361

This car has always been serviced by them, it is not even paid off. They do not want to replace the headliner because of the miles on the car. Does the glue of the liner or fabric wear as the car travels over the road? OR is this a faulty product?

This is a well known widely reported issue that VW is ignoring and offering to do the repair at cost if at all.

After the pictures, I have posted links to many other reports on the Internet of the same problems.

Stay tuned, I am editing a video that I will be posting on YouTube of other people's cars and interviews with them...

This does not look so bad...

The right side looks worse...

Around the dome light...

More around the dome light...

Not my car, but is this what it will end up looking like?

Not my car, look familiar?

Pogoplug Samba

So my PC worked with Samba, but my Hackintosh did not! :(

The difference was:

[global]
workgroup = PARKNET
server string = Pogoplug Samba2 Server
hosts allow = 192.168.3. 127.
null passwords = yes
guest account = root
log file = /opt/var/log/samba/log.%m
max log size = 50
security = share
encrypt passwords = no <------------ Not MAC happy
smb passwd file = /opt/etc/samba/smbpasswd
dns proxy = no
preserve case = yes

VS

[global]
workgroup = PARKNET
server string = Pogoplug Samba2 Server
hosts allow = 192.168.3. 127.
null passwords = yes
guest account = root
log file = /opt/var/log/samba/log.%m
max log size = 50
security = share
encrypt passwords = yes <------ MAC Happy
smb passwd file = /opt/etc/samba/smbpasswd
dns proxy = no
preserve case = yes

This is the explanation:

PS. Turns out "encrypt passwords = no" doesn't actually help, but prevents non-workgroup machines to connect without passwords (at least from a Windows XP machine). I've now set it to "yes".

Oshkosh 2010

This years Oshkosh was about people.

It was wonderful to get together with people you only see at Oshkosh and renew friendships and share ideas.

There are too many people and too little time, especially when I am able to only do a long weekend.

It is great to discuss ideas like a steerable nose wheel, and hear someone else with a better grasp of the physics of our systems to shoot you out of the water with 10 reasons.

It was interesting to hear Burt speak at the homebuilder's hangar and talk about doing things different to learn something new.

I love learning things, and even if it is learning an idea I have is wrong, I am happy to learn it.

So, I took no pictures of people, only detail shots of airplanes. I'll be more conscious of it.

The canard community has been important to me as I have been moving around the country job to job. In Monroe, La. it was great building wings with Neal Johnson.

Now in Rochester, Mn. there is a great group of EAA people and canardians that are always pitching in and helping.

I have to thank Mike Skorija for driving 14 hours to Pine Bluff AR, 14 hours to Rochester, Mn, 4 hours to Dennis Oleman's to return the trailer for the wings, and 14 hours back home to Troy, Mi.

Dennis, big thanks for the trailer and answering all my questions!

Living at the end of a runway

Donald Trump buys a historic mansion in 1990. He converts it to a private club.

Is he now going to claim he never knew it was at the end of a runway? Did he not notice when he turned final in his jet that he could look down and see his new investment?

He now complains when airplanes fly over?

I have a solution, MOVE!!!! Sell your jet and fly commercial! That will cut down on the number of flights over your club!

It is incredibly reasonable to expect Palm Beach International's traffic to increase over time and runways to grow in length.

By the way Donald, where do you park your plane when you are in town PBI or F45?

Why do I want more storage?

Do I need 2 Terabytes? (More)

Great Customer Service from Pogoplug!

I really enjoy my pogoplug.

I guess because I am cheap, uh I mean green...

It uses 4 watts of power, it does everything I would have a computer running for.

Being the mad computer scientist, I am constantly rebooting, running different OS's... The pogoplug does all the work I need a 24/7 computer to do.

It went unresponsive, the front LEDs are dark and the RJ45 LEDs are faintly flashing.

I had no idea that there was a warranty on the device!

I got a response from tech support in minutes!

They looked up my account and are going to replace it!

Waiting for final arrangements.

After a year of service...

RIP my friend. :(

It is a nice day for flying ....

It is a beautiful day, all is going well...

My thoughts on my approach to landing on the road were of my wife and daughter. I wanted to let them know how much I love them and how much they mean to me.

I met a town full of incredible nice people, even though I made a rude un-welcomed appearance. So many people pitched in and helped.

There are so many people I need to thank, first and most important, The Lord God, that everyone is safe and unharmed.

I am afraid to start thanking people that I may leave someone out...

More to come on this post.

I got to have one, now I need to figure why...

I have a two terrabyte pogo plug. It is hacked and runs many different programs. I can not figure what to do with more space than that...

But the video and build is so cool!

The big issue for me is that I am just completely outright jealous! Great video toys, great video production. Really cool application of technology.

I have some arm chair quarter back suggestions for improvements, but will not pen them... until I build one myself. ;) PS Don't tell my wife where her jewelery fund is going. :)

My pogoplug backup

This is my backup solution

The pogoplug makes USB drives network connected.

It works as a DIY NAS. I have a hub plugged in and I can plug in any USB storage.

It shares them over the net & I added windows file sharing.

There is a SATA dock with two 1TB drives in it.

Got to have One! :)

I do not know what it is or does, but I need it!
